About

“Past approaches, driven by economic theories, have not always produced significant results … lack of communication has often been identified as a major cause of project failure.” World Bank Development Communications Sourcebook

Communications is often regarded as the domain of marketing departments and creatives in ad agencies, but it has a crucial role to play in the development field. Funders need results and documentation. Communities need to understand how an organization's programs will affect them and how they can contribute. It is the responsibility of development organizations to use readily available tools for communication to share their stories and further their goals.

To that end, this website is a toolkit for organizations hoping to build their communications capacities. The website was created by Adora Svitak, a Tata Social Intern working in the CSR department of Tata Communications in New Delhi. The project would not have been possible without the support of the Tata Communications CSR team, the Tata Social Internship program, and UC Berkeley's Institute of South Asian Studies.
